Awhile ago, I read this article from bodyodd.msnbc.msn.com, and not only enjoyed it, but got a few different things out of it. As I always say, I write a lot about relationships, and one of the first things I thought about was communication. Many of the disagreements in my books, Where were you and Just Beneath the Surface are built upon misunderstandings, resentment turned cold, and an inability to see past hurt.
How do I relate reading something like: “why-yuor-barin-can-raed-tihs” to communication? I will explain.
At the root of most disagreements – misunderstanding. We have a natural ability to hear (or read) the beginning of what is expressed to us and guess the rest. Soon, the discussion (or what we read) takes on a life of its own, as we jump to conclusions and react to something that was never expressed.
Does your brain (heart) ever jump ahead of you and “mess thnigs pu?”

That would be me about 10 years ago. I have learned to shut up, listen, ask questions and make sure I have a good understanding. This simple technique has saved me lots of aggravation. I don’t always do it perfectly because I am human but I am trying.
